“All 5 of my fur babies have been seen here. We live 45 minutes away and the drive is well worth it. Dr. Nicol and his staff are amazing! They all love animals and cared for mine like their own. Mine range from 1 year to 14 years and all have been seen for a variety of reasons and all were treated with love and concern. We are very happy and satisfied with the care that is shown when we have to visit!

“Dr Nicol and his staff are wonderful. They treat you and your animal(s) like family as they are gentle, caring, kind, professional and respectful. Our dog loves going there, gets excited to see everyone, and receive lots of attention when she walks in. Their office is clean and their hours are also accommodating to busy work schedules. We are so blessed to have found this group.

“Dr Nicol and staff are awesome! We had 3 dogs and unfortunately due to age (16yrs old) lost 2 of them with their care. I love this group of medical professionals! They care about your pets if they were your own!

“Darby Creek was WONDERFUL with our fur baby!!! They called us after he was out of sx and in recovery to let us know how he was doing!! They kept him overnight to watch him and make sure he was okay, and even sent him home with accurate dosing pain medications!! Heartworm protection and why?
There are monthly topical and monthly chewable products, as well as an every six-month injection. Our vet staff can help you choose the right treatment for your pet.
WHY? Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal illness caused by a blood-borne parasite called Dirofilaria immitis, which is transmitted by mosquitos. The disease can cause severe lung problems, heart failure, and other organ damage. See American Heartworm Society (www.heartwormsociety.org) for mor information.
When should I get my dog/cat spayed or neutered?
We typically will recommend spay or neuter around 6 months of age. This, however, can differ based on the breed.
Best foods brands for my dog/cat?
We recommend selecting a food that is made by a responsible company: Purina One, Purina ProPlan, lams, Science Diet, Blue Buffalo, Hills.
***we recommend staying away from foods with added color and grain free (unless allergic)***
Is dental care important?
Dental hygiene is as important to your pet’s overall health as nutrition and exercise. Gum inflammation and tooth loss can be very painful to your animals and costly to treat. It can also lead to more serious conditions, including damage to the heart, lungs, and kidneys.
Brushing teeth is the best care. (we recommend at least once a week)
What are the best treats/toys for my pets?
If you can’t dent a chew with your fingernail or you wouldn’t want it thrown at your shins, then DON’T allow your pet to chew it. Broken teeth hurt!
Kong products are very safe, and you can put peanut butter, yogurt, cheese in them and freeze them to keep your pet occupied longer.
CET Dental chews are best from the dental side. Greenies are popular in the stores but are known to not digest well.
Baby carrots, green beans, bananas, cooked sweet potato, peanut butter (xylitol free) are other good options for treats.
*** stay away from processed foods with added color ***
What is a good weight for my pet?
Every breed is different. Ideally you want to observe the waist behind ribs when viewed from above and ribs palpable without excess fat covering. Purina and Hills have body condition charts and ideal breed weights online.
Nails?
Nail trims can be very traumatizing, so please try to work with your pet.
Play with their feet.
Clip just the tip of the nail to get them used to it. Clip a couple nails and give them a break if needed.
